This video shows the bunnies. They are pets but always seem to venture onto the neighbor’s lawn for good eating. They also spend a lot of time underneath the neighbor’ s cars.
The drone may have come closer than I wanted but also, it’s important that the bunnies maintain situational awareness since there are marsh hawks, owls, and cats and dogs that venture into the neighborhood. I’ve seen the marsh hawks fly off with a squirrel and I’m sure an unsuspecting bunny would be a tasty delight.
I know it will be a good day when I can see both bunnies having a good time on the neighbor’s lawn.
Before applying the clear dome resin to the Robby the robot metalhead, I wanted to test the concept and procedure. I used another head made from the 3D printer using PLA. I think the concept works out okay.

After watching the SYS fiery drone video, I wanted to test my main drone with Gimbel equipped camera. So, I tried a short test starting and landing in the backyard. At one point the drone was out of sight but I was able to fly using the monitor which transmits the camera video. The telemetry data is also displayed on the monitor, so I was able to make sure that my altitude was sufficient to avoid power lines and trees. I was familiar with the landscape but in the event, direction is lost the drone has a feature where if I just flick a switch and put the drone in reverse, it’ll come home no matter what direction it is facing. Failing that there is another switch which will activate a failsafe in which case the drone will automatically rise and then return to home (the takeoff point) without any input from me, and land. But I didn’t venture far from my familiar settings. So, the test was indicating that the drone and camera system were all functioning well. The attached edited video shows test results.
King’s Ferry is a popular recreation area on the Ogeechee river. Boats launched here can venture out into the Atlantic or head up river to popular fishing areas. The river is very scenic and well suited as a natural habitat for a variety of fish and wildlife. It’s not a very clear river but it’s relatively pristine for water quality.
My lab was having a blast running all around while I operated the drone.
Usually the video I post is about some type of radio controlled contraption etc. This video is about a short motorcycle ride to Moon River. You’ve probably heard the song and if you’ve ever wondered where Moon River is; it’s in Savannah Georgia. The Google map image shown at the beginning of the video shows Moon River and a boat ramp and small beach called Butter Bean Beach. The camera was mounted on the motorcycle helmet and it shows pretty much what I was looking at. When I get to Butter Bean Beach I stopped momentarily but didn’t get off the motorcycle. Portions of the video at intersections show rapid head movement to enter traffic safely. It was an enjoyable ride. The camera SD card had some other videos on it and the motorcycle ride video filled the SD card and this is why the video ends abruptly at an intersection near my home. I’m currently fine-tuning the motorcycle since it’s been a while since I’ve used it.
For those who may not know, in the movie, creatures from an alternate reality bridge an undersea entrance to earth and set to conquer the planet with the aid of giant creatures. To fight the monsters giant Mechs are created to defend earth. (hooky I know)
Nemo and his fantastic submarine are saved by a Mech (the Nautilus is not only a submarine, but it also can traverse time)
I added a second battery in the tank because with only one battery the drive mechanism would pull current from the video transmitter. With the second battery, video from the tank is less affected and is generally better in quality. The tanks bumpy ride however does seem to cause glitches in the video from time to time. This was a test video with perspectives from both inside and outside the tank.
This is a video of the activity at the new park in Savannah GA. Such a beautiful day I just had to drone some! I’m not sure what it will ultimately look like, but for anyone interested. May take a while to down load.
