This video is more appropriately entitled pilot training using goggles. I did not have visual contact with the drone once it took off and until after it landed. The entire time the drone was operated on a first-person video (FPV) mode. I was reasonably confident in the drone itself, but I did not want to take it over the pond. I figured that if I did that, I’d probably lose another drone. At one point the drone was about 250 feet up in the air (could have been higher). Unfortunately, my telemetry recorder currently needs work so I can’t post the telemetry. I was thinking about landing in the soccer field but decided against it for now, might be an objective for next time out. May take some time to download www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/park.wmv

It looked smooth to me. I wouldn't have known you were wearing the goggles.

you can get the tubes from family dollar for like a dollar they are 4ft....beats dredging a swamp aor getting in pond and catching an amoebic parasite..hey!...you might rig up a center extension with camera to give it like a 3rd person pov from above.. ..see how all propellers are working..shouldnt affect the weight ..its foam and cams so small now..

This is a short video of a local marina on a nearby river. That is actual chocolate flowing in the river and the fishermen here bring up barrels of chocolate. So now you know where chocolate comes from. All kidding aside the Atlantic and clear water Gulfstream are just beyond the marina. But I used to dive in chocolate water like this doing reconnaissance dives on the CSS Georgia. vimeo.com/397319476www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/coffeebluff.wmv

In the movie, Men in Black, there is a scene at the morgue where they open up the guys skull. Inside is a little alien who is trying to tell them that the universe is on the cat’s collar. When I’m flying the drone, especially using the goggles, I feel like I’m the little alien in the guys head only I’m the pilot. So much fun, the closest I’ll ever come to being a pilot.

Bingo!! Take the nautilus rc you made years ago add a cam bubble maybe lights or better yet one of this fishing sonars fisherman use ..get readings ent to your phone..might not be covered totally by sediment! I was thinking of that model..and my heart sunk for a second, actually more, ..as I had seen a pic with two guys holding that model ..one looked like Klat of the Arc RIP ..mustache and all..I miss him dearly.. Yours looked much better than Disneys..it was huge!

This is the only time I ever put an underwater camera on the jet nautilus. I knew beforehand that the underwater visibility would be poor but I was more curious to see if I could actually mount the camera and run the sub. Except for Florida the water around here is always pretty murky. So, after this camera experiment there was really no point with all the murky water around but at least I know that it can be done.

she's a beaut she is. Jesus. ahh..seems to me..the propellers stirred up a mess..how about this..will work thru murky water..there might even be a map for your pond..
This method is guaranteed to bring something to the surface..worst can happen is guaranteed no one else can get it..and that feeling is worth sumtin'

www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/quads.JPGwww.mrgodzilla.com/drone/108.JPGThese photos show some of the work I’ve been doing on several drones. The picture of the large drones shows one that is complete, one that’s in rehab, and a large drone as a future project. The other picture shows three smaller drones which are all quads and complete except for a few minor additions ordered from China.

This video was filmed at a local park during the China virus syndrome. (Makes me think of Hanoi Fonda) There are only a few people at the park, but all seem to be enjoying themselves. There is a dirt track where they race RC cars. That looks cool would like to get a video that someday. The lake itself is where I spent a lot of time developing the jet nautilus, but is always just so murky. The hexacopter used for this video was the one I just refurbished. In my opinion the video is as good as you could get from some of the more expensive models, the hexacopter is amazingly stable. There is a lot of technology that goes into building one from scratch. Not only do you have to have all the electronics in the drone itself correct and precise but you also have to have a precise set up in the transmitter. Even a slight mistake in the transmitter can cost you a drone. Probably why I like the hobby so much because it’s very challenging to build one of these from scratch. For four or 5000 you can easily buy a phantom, but why do that when you can make your own. As always takes awhile to download. www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/mayor.wmv

This is a short video showing how dangerous a Lipo battery can be. You may have heard stories about this type of battery. The battery is perfectly safe unless there is some kind of physical impairment. Or excessive heat. This battery was used in my drones but at one time or another was drained too much. When this happens, they get what is called puffy, it’s excess oxygen as a byproduct. They lose their capacity and are no longer useful. Before I throw them away sometimes, I shoot them with a pellet gun. This battery, although discharged, still had enough residual current to make an interesting display. Had this been fully charged the reaction would’ve been violent, almost an explosion. www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/lipo.wmv

In this video I was at a local park, practicing first-person video using the goggles. It is the playing field next to the Chatham County Aquatic Center. Also Lake Mayer, home of the jet nautilus, can be seen in the distance. At one point Irene came up to me. She had never seen nor heard of a drone. She was very curious. I gave her the goggles so she could actually see first-person video. I think she really enjoyed the experience, and I told her I’d make a video. She had no idea what a drone was, so I hope she was entertained by my droning activity. vimeo.com/418073103

Thanks
I’d like to think that when I can bring some excitement to someone else I’ve accomplished a good thing. But I must tell you this is a drone with a gimbal so I can point the camera directly down. And sometimes I almost think I’m about ready to fall off, scarrie, that’s how real it can get. Lots of fun though.
I’ve got a new drone that I’m working on which is huge. Will post more about that one later. I’m just waiting for the motors, it spans about five feet across. It’s on a par with the professional drones, could carry a hefty payload or heavy camera. But for the moment the cameras I use are pretty good, not top of the line, after all it’s just a hobby for me not a job. But it sure is fun, the closest I’ll ever come to being a pilot. Right now I have about five or six home made drones, and they all work great. So trying to have as much fun as I can before the FAA puts the damper on the hobby with their latest regulations.
