..William Maillis also has called out Hawking saying there is no God...
So are we to assume he is going to prove that there is a God ?
Good luck to him with that one.

I think his argument boils down to:
The universe has an age and something can't come from nothing because it would have to exist in order for it to cause itself to exist which is illogical so something other must have created the universe (singularity) and that something other is observed as god.
I suppose you can try to prove god exists by logic but on the other hoof you can use logic to argue god does not exist. So logically it follows that logic cannot be used when debating the existence of god.

Hi Nyx, I'm no genius (so don't believe anything I say about Quantum Fizzix or the like!), but Stephen Hawking didn't claim our Universe self-created or stemmed from nothing, only that its causation (logically!) can be traced back no further than a single point from which Space Time expanded (=the Big Bang). This implies (logically) he held there was a cause to the Universe, be it for now beyond a knowledge horizon. His life time developing mathematical theories led him to believe this cause need not be a (personal) Creator. It could be for example another (compared to the ones we discover in our universe) version of physics law, regulating how universes end and begin again. If God wanted us to be logical, he wouldn't have created blondes.
Above question (proving the Creator God) seems a rather large responsibility to shoulder for this 11-year old young man, however smart and talented he might be. It includes solving Abiogenesis and Evolution Theory (presumably refitting all the available evidence within a Creation Model). I accept boy geniuses will be boy geniuses, however I sure hope his parents have him be just an ordinary kid of faith and have fun... purr

The creation of the universe is too simple to explain the complexities of God.
God is more than just our universe. God is all emotions, all ideas, all creations.

nyx,
God is just a cop- -out description. A general excuse used by people who do not wish to be blamed for anything, accept responsibility for anything, or who are afraid of the dark.
But I'm an atheist, so I would say that, wouldn't I ?
Plenty of time to worry about God(s) when you die. Assuming death is not oblivion.
