NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine says the U.S. is within 10 years of having a continuous manned presence on the moon, which will lay the groundwork for expanding space exploration to Mars.
thehill.com/hilltv/rising/418877-nasa-administrator-says-us-is-within-10-years-of-continuous-manned-presence“Right now we’re building a space station, we call it ‘Gateway,’ that’s going to be in orbit around the moon — think of it as a reusable command module where we can have human presence in orbit around the moon. From there we want reusable landers that go back and forth to the surface of the moon,” Bridenstine told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons and Buck Sexton on “Rising.”
“We think we can achieve this in about 10 years, the idea being prove the capability, retire the risk, prove the human physiology and then go on to Mars,” he continued.
Bridenstine joined “Rising” to detail NASA’s plans to partner with nine U.S. companies to travel to the moon, a key component of NASA’s plan to extend human space exploration.
The administrator said he hopes to drive innovation by creating a commercial marketplace called the Commercial Lunar Payload Services Program (CLIPS).
Through the CLIPS program, Bridenstine hopes to develop technology that will eventually establish a continuous Moon presence.SHALOM...Z

DEAL OR NO DEALDonald Tusk has warned British MPs that if they reject Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement, they face a choice of either no deal or no Brexit.www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-tusk-no-deal-theresa-may-eu-president-latest-g20-donald-latest-a8660851.htmlThe European Council president sought to make clear that the deal is the “only possible one”, amid speculation that Ms May could try to either renegotiate the package or that parliament might seek a Norway-style status instead. It comes after the Bank of England and the Treasury released data suggesting a no-deal scenario could lead to a savage recession in the UK, with a devastating impact on household incomes.Speaking from the G20 summit in Argentina, Mr Tusk pointed out that the deal struck between the European Union and the UK represented an “orderly divorce”. He went on: “A few days before the vote in the House of Commons, it is becoming more and more clear that this deal is the best possible – in fact the only possible one. “If this deal is rejected in the Commons we are left with, as was already stressed a few weeks ago by Prime Minister May, an alternative – no deal or no Brexit at all. “I want to reassure you that the EU is prepared for every scenario.”"Under My Thumb"

Mark Borchardt's movie about UFO watchers in Wisconsin finally available via DVD, digital download
Chris Foran, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 10:30 a.m. CT Nov. 30, 2018
Writer-filmmaker-actor-creator Mark Borchardt has never been idle.
But it's been nearly 20 years since a movie he directed got wider circulation. "The Dundee Project," Borchardt's 2017 documentary about the denizens of a UFO festival in Fond du Lac County, is now available on DVD and digital download, being distributed by the guys behind the Found Footage Festival.
It's the first directed-by-Borchardt film released since "Coven," the made-in-Milwaukee, low-budget horror cult classic that was the subject of the award-winning 1999 documentary "American Movie."
"The Dundee Project" — which runs about 20 minutes, with another 20 or so minutes of bonus features, including interviews and film-festival conversations with Borchardt — retails for $19, at thedundeeproject.com. The trailer for the documentary is narrated by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, who the distributors have labeled a Borchardt "superfan."
The documentary made the rounds of the festival circuit in 2017, playing at, among others, the Slamdance Film Festival in Utah and the Wisconsin Film Festival and Milwaukee Film Festival.
In making the movie, Borchardt traveled to Dundee in Fond du Lac County every July from 2001 through 2007 or 2008 to film UFO Daze, a gathering of believers and skeptics centered around a bar called Benson's Hide-A-Way. Owner Bill Benson claims nearby Long Lake has had so many sightings of unidentified flying objects that it's the "UFO capital of the world."
Borchardt lets some of the UFO Daze regulars speak for themselves — especially UFO Bob (real name; Robert Carl Kuehn), an extraterrestrial believer from Fond du Lac. But the filmmaker's own narration sets the tone.
In an interview last week, Borchardt called his approach to creating "an experiential thing melded with art."
"I'm not into story," he said. "It infantilizes the realm of life. My work is more exploratory and episodic. … It's pretty instinctual at this point."
Found Footage Festival co-founder Nick Prueher, who's an executive producer on "The Dundee Project," calls Borchardt "the Werner Herzog of Wisconsin." Except for Borchardt's unrelentingly inspired outlook (vs. the German film legend's wry, dark perspective), the comparison isn't too far off.
Like Herzog, Borchardt is indefatigable.
The 18-year span between "Coven" and "The Dundee Project" wasn't a gap. In between, Borchardt had dozens of acting gigs — he was seen onscreen in Milwaukee last week, in the debut of Milwaukee filmmakers Drew Rosas and Nick Sommer's "Shangri-LA." Borchardt also has a weekly show on Riverwest Radio, "Cinema Fireside," talking mostly movies with Gabe Van Handel.
And he's doing a lot of directing, especially music videos. On Thursday, he was heading off to work on a new video for Milwaukee indie band Sleepersound.
When asked what he's working on next, Borchardt replied, "Life presents itself."

UFO sighting in Texas? Keller resident records mysterious 'cigar-shaped' object in the sky
by Julian Gill, Houston Chronicle 4:11 pm CST, Thursday, November 29, 2018
A Keller resident saw the mysterious bright object in the sky last week. It didn't move for 20 minutes, the witness said.
At first, the white object in the sky looked like a cloud. A weather balloon, perhaps ?
The motionless, cigar-shaped object spotted last week near Fort Worth left the witness stumped. And a video of the sighting has since gone viral, opening the door to UFO theories online.
Keller residents said they saw a mysterious, rod or cigar-shaped object in the sky last week. The object, which appeared to be glowing, was still for about 20 minutes, the witness said.
"It was the oddest thing I've ever seen," the unidentified witness said, according to their report to Texas UFOs, a website that tracks mysterious UFO sightings throughout the state. "I watched it for about 20 minutes. It didn't move. I don't think I've ever seen anything in the sky stay that still before, not even for a few seconds, let alone 20 minutes."
