Good morning all
Photography Talk 19 June 2018
UFO Photos Taken During the Apollo Missions
The purpose of the Apollo missions wasn't just to get humans on the moon and get them back to earth safely.
Instead, the Apollo missions also sought to develop the technologies needed for space travel, to better understand how humans might be able to function in the lunar environment, and, of course, to take the lead in the space race.
Unexpected consequence of these missions, though, was that still cameras and video cameras captured aberrations (like the one above) that remain unexplained to this day.
Yep...we're talking about UFOs.
Remember, a UFO is any unidentified flying object, so it doesn't immediately mean that it's a spacecraft manned by little green aliens.
Have a look at these UFO photos from the Apollo Missions and decide for yourself what these UFOs might be.

Mysterious ‘crashed UFO’ on Mars ‘could have formed in life-giving explosion’
Rob Waugh Wednesday 20 Jun 2018
Every so often, UFO fans get their knickers in a twist about a ‘crashed spaceship’ on the surface of Mars – as images surface of a strange rock formation near the equator. The Medusae Fosse Formation has baffled scientists since it was spotted by the Mariner spacecraft in the 60s (as well as inspiring lots of bonkers YouTube videos). But a new study suggests it was formed by explosive volcanic eruptions which shot jets of ash and rock into the sky of ancient Mars – and could have affected the habitability of the Red Planet.
Scientists now have an explanation (NASA)New research by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore suggests the formation was deposited during explosive volcanic eruptions on the Red Planet more than 3 billion years ago. The formation is about one-fifth as large as the continental United States and 100 times more massive than the largest explosive volcanic deposit on Earth, making it the largest known explosive volcanic deposit in the solar system, according to the study’s authors.

Ancient Roman skull stolen from archaeological dig in Yorkshire
Grace Newton 20 June 2018
A valuable Roman skull has been stolen from a pit being excavated by archaeologists in Malton.
Thieves removed the relic from the dig site on Old Maltongate during the night of May 9, and two men were later seen behaving suspiciously nearby. Injured servicemen on the front line to recover Malton's Roman fortThe dig project aims to uncover more information about Old Malton, which was the site of a Roman fort and industry including pottery kilns. It is being run by the Defence Archaeology Group in conjunction with the University of York, and some of those working on the excavations are injured armed forces veterans.
The five acres of land behind the Old Lodge Hotel on Old Maltongate have a 2,000-year history, having been the location of Derventio Brigantum before a Norman castle was built on the site.
Excavations have been ongoing since the 1930s, and ITV's Time Team have filmed in the area.
The skull had been partially covered before it was taken, and police are looking to trace two men who visited the dig two days after the theft, asking questions and taking photographs. They were seen in a small white van with a registration number similar to YO56 UZN.The crime comes as Historic England warned that parts of Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland are being damaged by 'nighthawk' metal detectorists illegally hunting for ancient treasure. They have made around 50 holes in the ground near the Brunton Turret section while searching for items such as Roman coins. Using a metal detector at a Scheduled Ancient Monument site is a criminal offence.
However, it is not thought to be practical to install CCTV cameras at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Anyone with any information about the Malton skull theft is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Mark Atkinson.

Koko, the gorilla who knew sign language, dies at 46 By Associated Press | Jun 21, 2018
Koko, the gorilla who mastered sign language, dies at 46, Photo Date: 4/12/17
WOODSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Koko, the gorilla who mastered sign language, has died.
The Gorilla Foundation says the 46-year-old western lowland gorilla died in its sleep at the foundation's preserve in California's Sana Cruz mountains on Tuesday.
Koko was born at the San Francisco Zoo, and Dr. Francine Patterson began teaching the gorilla sign language that became part of a Stanford University project in 1974.
The foundation says Koko's capacity for language and empathy opened the minds and hearts of millions.
Koko appeared in many documentaries and twice in National Geographic. The gorilla's 1978 cover featured a photo that the animal had taken of itself in a mirror.
The foundation says it will honor Koko's legacy with a sign language application featuring Koko for the benefit of gorillas and children, as well as other projects.
