Good and evil as many of us have come to understand, has existed long before man. ( But that topic/subject is for another post.)
Now, evil does not exist only in one man one city one country, it exists all over the world, and most likely all over the cosmos. Thus, it [evil] could have permeated life elsewhere--intelligent or otherwise--as it did here on our planet Earth.
Since the beginning of the film industry, movie makers have played upon this scenario in many films and TV. Giving rise to the oldest questions which are, Will they come to enlighten us in regard to the vast infinite expanse with their superior intellect? Or will they come as conquerors and enslavers?
When pondering as to how we would react to any possible first encounter/contact with any unforeseen exoplanetary entities (besides panic), these questions will always come to mind; Do we extend our hands as a gesture of welcome to our planet? Yell start the tanks and arm the nuclear weapons? Or just run like hell as if the Borg were after us? That remains to be seen.
To each his/her own.

I suppose the short answer is we discriminate between the good guys and bad guys and deal with them accordingly. purr

Yup. If and when the time comes, everyone must deal with the situation--most situations for that matter--in their own inimitable fashion. Hopefully that would be intelligently.

I am going to say something here that will no doubt very unpopular in some circles. But please remember it is only an analogy.
If you want to know what it would be like if Aliens arrived, maybe apparently benevolent ones, just look at the Palestine/Israel situation.
Forgetting the politics of the thing, you will see a sophisticated force that has been placed in the middle of an area where (except for very old and religious reasons0) it does not belong. But it had nowhere else to go. Maybe our Aliens planet is failing.
Now imagine we are the relatively poorly armed and organised Palestinians, and the Israeli's are the aliens who have arrived. Armed with high tech and a supply route back to wherever they came from.
What do you think our chances would be ?
Remember, this is only an analogy to bring home the reality of what might happen.

Evil does not live in one man or one country but history tells us, the Evil idea lives and begins with one man and infects many. for me, the question of evil is, what makes evil infectious?
i do not think about an Alien invasion bc, i am one of many that believe Aliens have lived on Earth since the creation of Earth and to this day, live among us. i believe like many others, Aliens are the watchers and protectors of Earth. in my view, to believe in a Alien Invasion is a Hollywood invention, to entertain and excite boring daily lives with such an idea.

What makes evil infectious? That is an age-old question that has been addressed by philosophers, theologians and scientists for millennia. A question that has inspired fictional writing, as well as renowned fictional characters. Such as in recent times as; Hercule Poirot. By Agatha Christie. Murder she wrote. By Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link, starring Angela Lansbury, as Jessica Fletcher. And so many others. Also, true crime shows such as Forensic files. The first 48. Evil lives here, and many more. But I'm veering off from the theme of this thread--which is, does evil infect other beings that may exist in the cosmos? And in what way? Any local extraterrestrial beings that may use Pluto, Mars or Secret Underwater Bases on Earth. ( reference here) Or Alleged Underwater Alien UFO Bases ( reference here) to remain nearby and continue their observation and perhaps any influence, have thus far not exhibited any benevolence. But what about any distant intelligent and civilized beings, that may reside say, about 20 or so lightyears from Earth? What effect, if any, would a malevolent force have on such civilizations? With them [the aliens] having seen a magnificent blue marble in the distance, would they say: Let's go make friends? Or let's go invade them? That is hard to say. As for me, if I were to run into any such issue, and encountered any exoplanetary entities, I would take the situation with a grain of salt. Cautiously. With a Bible in one hand. And a .357 magnum in the other. And hope that higher more intelligent minds, and reason, will prevail.

Good and evil as many of us have come to understand, has existed long before man. No they haven't. Good and evil are abstract concepts created by humans. Nature is amoral. Now, evil does not exist only in one man one city one country, it exists all over the world, and most likely all over the cosmos. Thus, it [evil] could have permeated life elsewhere--intelligent or otherwise--as it did here on our planet Earth. That is absurd. The universe is indifferent to human notions of good and evil which are arbitrary and subjective.
