Great story, Nyx! The McDonalds Big Mac "the all-beef patty topped with special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, wedged inside a sesame-seed bun." was one my favorites in the 70's and early 80's (with french fries & coke naturally), although I liked all American fastfood offerings, with Burger King burger toppings actually a bit richer and imo serious competion for the Macs.
They lost me soon after as customer when switching from vegetable oil to hardened transfats for frying, I hear McDonalds has since switched back to oil again (vegetable, possibly rapeseed?), but by then I'd already become partial to healthy home cooked foods, with as many fresh/natural ingredients as possible.
Still, McDonalds to me combines great taste with fond memories, so I go out to enjoy a fastfood meal at least once a year.
