Trump seems he has gained 6 points since impeachment to 47%.
Will impeachment backfire on the Democrats?

I think it will probably show that the whole thing is just too ridiculous to comprehend. There was an old joke that went something like this.
In an African state, an opposition official was arrested for alleged fraud. When a journalist inquired about his upcoming trial he was told. 'He will be given a fair trial followed by a quick execution'.
The current Trump situation seems to be something of the reverse. There are strong hints that it wont make any difference whether or not he is impeached. Nothing will happen to him.
In other words. The whole thing is a joke.
Who ever heard of the deference being allowed to withhold evidence and decline to produce witnesses ?
This isn't justice, it's a mockery.
But it makes good opera.

"We hang the petty thieves, and appoint(elect) the great ones (like Trump) to office." Regarding the next election.....Trumps numbers are no better with the voters than before he was elected. Indeed Clinton actually received more actual votes than him ,and Trump only got in due to the nature of the Electoral College which many experts think is outdated. Let's vote straight up and let the people decide and not the Electoral College reps. And also only a little over half the eligible voters actually voted....so there are many more people who might vote this time around and who knows who they will vote for.

The electoral college was fixed. In Florida, the AG was Pam Bondi. Trump gave her campaign $25,000 and in return, she declined to prosecute Trump University cases in the state of Florida. Come the 2016 election, who gets appointed to the board of electors in Florida? Yep. Pam Bondi. What was done about it? Nothing.
I don't care what polls say, impeachment is not helping Trump. Polls also said Trump would lose in 2016 so **** what polls say. Then telling the public that no matter what evidence they bring up, the Senate will refuse to convict--what is that? A poll booster? If they want to really piss the public off, that's a good way to do it. It's funny to say that Trump deserves a fair trial because a fair trial would convict him faster than you can lick. The Senate can't allow a fair trial.
But with Trump warning everybody in 2011 and 2012 not to trust Obama because he'll start a war with Iran to get reelected and then doing that very thing himself four years later. he has likely sealed his doom--especially when none of our allies (who all hate him) are not exactly jumping up to volunteer to help and likely can't be induced to help because Trump never keeps his promises--deliberately. His followers, of course, love it. But then last week they loved the lie that he wasn't going to get us into any useless regime-change wars in the Middle East. It's amusing how quickly they'll change their stances to suit Trump's latest whim. This means, of course, they don't care what Trump's stances are because they don't support him for any of that--not even for a wall (since he hasn't built it) or for his failure to kill Obamacare. They just love his big mouth. The more hurtful and insulting and bullying and racist he talks, the more they love him and that is the ONLY reason they love him. They're too stupid to know anything about politics. They love Trump precisely because he is a nasty, little prick.
edit:
Let's not use the F word please.
