Hey guys.
Ok, so over the course of the last few months, at dusk and after dark, I've seen numerous high altitude strobing or flashing objects that just seem to drift. I'm an avid skywatcher and an aviation enthusiast so I'm very familiar with aircraft appearance and satellites. I have seen many tumbling satellites which appear to flash on and off as their various reflective surfaces rotate through. I've seen these objects directly overhead around midnight, which means there's no way sunlight could be reflecting off a satellite since the sun is directly below my feet at that hour. I should also note that the weather service told me their balloons have no lights of any kind.
A friend and I watched two of the aforementioned objects one evening about two weeks ago. One drifted due north and disappeared, then an hour later another on the same path made a gradual turn to the northeast. We timed the initial flashes of the second one at 16 seconds. No aviation lights have that interval, there would be no point from a safety perspective since an airliner at 500 knots covers a lot of sky in 16 seconds. But, the interval on this object suddenly became more random with flashes anywhere from 3 to 16 seconds as well as the intensity going randomly from bright to dim. Very odd and surreal to watch. It's to the point where I can go out nearly any clear night and see at least one.
There are videos online which seem to show the same thing, which I can post links for if the moderator(s) will allow it. Also, my skywatching partner and fellow ufo enthusiast has just acquired some IR binoculars with a video output so we hope to be able to catch some of these on video. And eventually we'll have better equipment as we go along. Had to start somewhere! I'm in Florida's east coast, by the way. Will keep you guys posted.
Cheers.
