There was no 'disclosure' Churchill was responding to reports from the RAF and simply wanted a briefing on what it was all about. His concern was that they may be German technology. Apparently the Germans thought they were ours.

Hal, your idea could be true. But, according to the UK National Archives, Chruchill made Eisenhower do a cover up of all UFO information for 50 years, and then reviewed in secret again after 50 years. The UK shadow government under Lord Mountbatten, with only a few intelligence people knowing, established The Flying Saucer Working Party in 1950. From my UFO events in my youth, I know UFOs are real, but I am just a "nobody on the streets". www.independent.co.uk/news/science/did-churchill-and-eisenhower-cover-up-ufo-encounter-2043641.html

There were a lot of ufo sighting reported in the 'fifties.
Oddly, they were more believable that the more modern reports due to the huge difference in their reported behaviour compared with the capabilities of the aircraft of the day.

HAL, I agree with you 100%. A UFO in the 50's and 60's was a "real" UFO, not a drone, not orbs, not funny lights in the sky, etc. My aliens I ran into were more like skinny,child-like humanoids ( no big oval eyes, but rectangle eyes ), and their ships were more like a huge clam shape rather than a classic UFO shape. Their ships were made from very dull metal that kinda absorbed light and did not reflect light. These UFOs were metal of some sort. And the movies were great! The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) The War of the Worlds (1953) Forbidden Planet (1956) The Thing (1951) The Blob (1958) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) It Came From Outer Space (1953)
