I originally posted this in "New Science and Technology" sub-thread....

Has Anybody Docked that Phukr Yet?
Hello...this is for the techies in our little community, and especially for Cliff & SwampRat and MrGort!! (it is more difficult than first appears...re-read instructions to understand what the controls perform, the 'translation' buttons adjust the angle of approach)
See: iss-sim.spacex.com
enjoy!

Frankly, I wonder if the astronauts have a different HMI interface than we do...maybe a joystick or two? The web interface we have is difficult because the buttons are so far apart and, ya can't just adjust one attitude, I think it requires adjusting all of the controls, in a balanced manner, so to speak.
So far I find that its best to have some forward thrust and then vector the vehical approach in zig-zags while adjusting the vehicle attitude.
Then there is an unexpected thrust behavior, where, if one doesn't approach quite in the proper attitude, the thrust automatically reverses??! It would be interesting to learn how auto-docking is accomplished.
It is much easier if one disables the gravity influence, I suspect that is what causes the constant divergence from the adjustments. I have not yet tried to dock using the 'flat Earth' model with 'gravity' disabled. Maybe one needs to practice using that configuration until one has some experience controlling the vehicle, and then re-enable 'gravity' and 'round Earth' influences?
In any case it is really difficult.
So the challenge is on, who'll be the first to dock it?

I've found that one click on pitch control works best, but crashed again.
