One issue at a time please! Because it can spiral into a crazy argument that goes -> BLM -> Bad people with guns ->We need more good people with guns -> To many guns -> Can gun laws even work? -> YOUR A LIBRAL COMMUNIST -> WATCH FOX NEWS!!!! Isn't that right MrGort? I disagree with you gus, we are all multitaskers here and can deal with more than one thing at a time. What I have seen is black people crying over black people burning and looting their businesses and burning their homes down...heart breaking to watch. So if black lives matter why are BLM doing that to their own people? I think its because its nothing to do with black lives mattering, and everything to do with globalists using them as tools to tear the country apart for their own agenda. And why not speak about the massive amount of black people killed by black people? Too many innocent black children have died.... their poor parents, they will never get over that as long as they live. Their pain must be unimaginable... God bless them. When I lived in Canada I was working and the boss walked in and said there has been another mass shooting in America. Everyone in the room sighed deeply and a guy looked at me and said they are our cousins over the border but they are in a terrible state. Too many guns because it's enshrined in the constitution. They have really bad health care. Wages are so low that it's created a large class of working poor. University education is incredibly expensive that it takes years to repay. The Law seems to be used against the poor (Same in Australia). But they are one of the richest countries in the world and it simply doesn't have to be that way. As these things get worse not better people will rebel, time and time again. There are solutions but the rightwing hates them for some reason. For example. You can only own a gun if your in a well-regulated militia. The interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is up to the people as to how they want to have that implemented. The pursuit of happiness without the fear of being shot would be a nice change in America. All the money spent on the military after 911 would of be enough to give every American Universal Free Health Care. Implement a living wage, ours in Australia is also not great but it does reduce the desperation of the working poor too riot. University Education, ours in Australia is very similar to yours but a drive to get poor families to get better education to hopefully get a better job and out of the poverty trap. We are also reviewing our laws at the same time as you. It has been noticed that the cycle of poverty and interaction with the law creates a vicious cycle. For example get fine for speeding, can't afford speeding ticket, run away from police, get another ticket got to jail and get educated in more crime. I think the American method of paying bond to get out of jail has gotten out of hand. If you don't pay because you're poor you don't get out, so the presumption of innocence is thrown out. Also Im of the thinking that getting American industries out of China and back in America is a good idea. But unfortunately I will be called a communist for even trying to have a discussion on the subject.

Gus, we are sitting ducks here in Australia…. If there was an invasion, we would be finished, not so in America where so many have guns to protect themselves. The world is a dangerous place and the way China is acting towards Australia at present is disturbing. Wouldn’t the Chinese communists love to get the guns off Americans so they will be sitting ducks like Australians? The problems with guns in America always seem to be in Democrat run cities. McEnany blames surge in violence in US cities on Dem mayors, governors Hannity: Make no mistake, America's cities are in chaos
Wages may be low in America but then again everything else is quite cheap, housing, clothing, foods… I know because I have visited America many times, married to an American and spend months there at a time and have travelled pretty much all over America…. I am amazed at how cheap everything is there…. same things cost twice as much in Australia. I remember when we were deciding if we wanted to live in America or Australia, sitting looking at many acres of beautiful land for sale… it was $25,000, it had to be cleared, however the trees on the property were worth more than the land…. If one wanted to get a buyer for the trees and clear the land. Where can you buy many acres of land in Australia for that amount? That amount wouldn’t even buy you a box size block here. I disagree with you that there are solutions that the right wing hates for some reason. The right wing is not the problem, it’s the left wing… evident by all the problems in left wing states and cities that are now wanting to defund the police. There is no way on Earth I would want to live in a country with no police…. No one would be safe, it would be a criminals paradise/utopia. There is education at TAFE for those on pensions that want to better their lives here in Australia. My adult son just quit his job to go back to school to get a different profession, instead of working all night at his current profession…. He already had a profession that he got through a 4 year apprenticeship. There is help for those here that want to change their lives. Trump has started an apprenticeship program in America, I cannot remember the details as it was more than a year ago now. An example of get fined for speeding, can't afford speeding ticket, run away from police, get another ticket go to jail and get educated in more crime. Goodness me, only a stupid person would do that, a responsible person would not speed in the first place. Do you live on the East Coast, because on the West Coast we have a demerit system… you lose so many points until your license is taken away from you. A person can also pay their fines off…. It’s a matter of priorities, what comes first paying your bills off or buying alcohol or smokes? People have to be responsible for the things they do wrong, or they will never learn. You said: Also I'm of the thinking that getting American industries out of China and back in America is a good idea. Isn’t that what Trump has been working tirelessly to do since he won the presidency? I have been searching for track suits for weeks now, they are like hen’s teeth here because of the war of words with China, and it appears that they are made in China…. It would be a booming business for any Aussie that wants to start making track suits….. You said: But unfortunately I will be called a communist for even trying to have a discussion on the subject. That last sentence is that for everything you said in your post or just about bringing businesses back to America? Im not convinced armed Australians like America could stop bombs, tanks and nukes. Now that I know you're Australian my post was more worded for an American audience. Explaining the TAFE system and how it's subsidised by the Australian Government would sound like full blown communism to them! LOL As for the demerit system! explaining that you get a fine through the mail when you get caught rather than having police pull you over in the US. Was something I wasn't sure they would get. But my point about speeding maybe a bad example but poverty can become a vicious cycle that can dig you in deeper rather than out, if you can't get your head around the cards you have been dealt. For example generational poverty. As for the communism statement Im keen to discuss different ideas, Left and Right but MrGort calling me a communist when Im trying to discuss ideas is just BS. But the general problem is this stupid tribalism that the US finds itself. Anyway not my circus and not my monkeys.

mrgort,
Hillary crashed and burned at the end.
It is hard to beat the sitting president, so I think Trump has an excellent chance of winning a second term.
Biden is a poor speaker in front of people, which will sink him.

There are a lot of followers who will vote for Biden. Doesn't matter what he says, they shrug it off and say "thats Joe".

Gus, But my point about speeding maybe a bad example but poverty can become a vicious cycle that can dig you in deeper rather than out, if you can't get your head around the cards you have been dealt. For example generational poverty. My husband and I both grew up in poverty.... my family fled to Australia after WWII... my father was insane from what the Japanese did to him and what he saw for years in Changi Japanese Prisoner of War Camp. He was one of the stumbling skeletons that came out of that prison when the Americans rescued them. We were very poor and grew most all of our food... I was the 10th child in a family of 11 children. I know what poverty is.... I struggled for much of my life, worked hard, got a good job, bought my own home and did it alone while raising my children whose father deserted them! None of my older brothers stayed in poverty.... they worked hard and became quite well off.... they studied and made something of their lives. My sister made even better of her life and lives in a palatial home. Generational poverty does not cut it with me. My husband grew up in worse poverty in America. None of them stayed that way either. My husband studied and became an environmental chemist, his sister became a teacher and his brothers became mechanics. No one's life needs to be defined by how they grew up. Once they become of age their future is theirs to mould.... that is if they don't embrace victim-hood instead. Thats a great story of how you guys got yourself out of poverty but your story is not everyone else's. Its a lot more complicated than embracing victim-hood for example I used to worked in the towers in Melbourne that are currently being locked down. One of my clients was sexually abused by the priesthood. The trauma was so extreme he took drugs to remove his pain over the years because he was called a liar when he tried to get help. As you can imagine it takes professional help to try and help someone change their path in life. The police are the ones chomping at the bit to arrest him walking down the street on drugs. I have worked in Kings Cross, St Kilda and many other slummy areas. Being mean spirited and victim blaming towards people having difficult time in life is a distraction while politicians on both sides destroy your services. The very services's that reduce desperation in poverty.

Joe Biden is in BIG Trouble – Bernie’s REVENGE! Published by A.I. Editorial Team on July 9, 2020
Just when you thought Bernie Sanders and his army of progressive minions have gone away, they’re back in a BIG way!
But they’re not targeting President Donald Trump… they’re going after presumptive Democratic presidential nominee JOE BIDEN.
You see, Bernie Sanders may ‘support’ Biden’s campaign publicly, but behind-the-scenes his progressive supporters are not happy with Biden.
According to a report from The Hill, the Biden campaign has made every effort to court and win progressive support — including a push to put progressive and Democratic Socialist superstars like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on its policy teams — the relationship between the Biden campaign and certain far-left elements of the party is still tenuous and after a week of campaign announcements focusing largely on Republican (and former Republican) support for the former VP.
And Bernie’s progressive followers are speaking out in a big way.
“Biden is transparently taking a bet to win over a group of anti-Trump Republicans but at the expense of what? Potentially losing some of the largest movements in history?” progressive activist and Sanders supporter Nomi Kurst told The Hill. “His excitement is extremely low and that should always be alarming for candidates. It’s the Hillary Clinton strategy all over again.”
OUCH!
According to a report from The Daily Wire, Biden has been open about courting “compromise” voters, particularly so-called “Never Trump” Republicans and other conservatives who fear giving the current president another four years in office. Groups like the Lincoln Project are openly targeting Trump from the center-right, and just last week, a group of former George W. Bush administration staffers announced their own effort to unseat Trump, a super PAC named “43 Alumni for Biden.”
Biden has welcomed these efforts with open arms, and speaking over the weekend, stressed his ability to extend an olive branch across the aisle.
According to the report, progressives say they may bolt the Democratic Party if Biden keeps up efforts to woo Republicans, stressing that partisan rancor is at an all-time high and Republicans are likely to oppose Biden policy efforts once he takes office.
“It’s very hard to understand why after going through eight years of the Obama administration that Joe Biden thinks we’ll be able to carve out grand deals with Republicans,” one activist told The Hill. “The way we’ll get Republicans to the table is by having a progressive movement in the Democratic Party that is strong enough to force them there.”
Biden faces a tough choice if he wants to become president. Either gravitate towards the far-left faction of the Democratic Party… or court folks from the right that don’t support President Trump.
Either way, it doesn’t look good for Biden!

Here let me tell you a another story about poor people under the thumb. I used to work with an African family that had been pro democracy advocates in their country. The whole family was rounded up tortured, men women and children. Now try to imagine your children being tortured and seeing that impact in the eyes of your children......everyday. They fled to Australia severely traumatised, one uncle had debilitating depression and had over whelming fear of people in uniforms. The others were able to learn English and get a low paying job. One of the children that was traumatised from the torture had PTSD and saw everyone as a possible threat. Police loved chasing him because like his uncle was afraid of people in uniform. His fear of police made him look suspicious/guilty in their eyes and so was regularly approached. He then started taking drugs and the spiral to poverty started thus jail time. Unfortunately a typical story. Hmmm this is quite cathartic Im might keep telling you guys the things I have seen at work

Gus, you don’t know my story, are you insinuating that I am being mean spirited or are you pointing that at police and politicians? One of my brothers and my ex worked Vice, and I am fully aware of the sicko’s in this world. There is reason why I HATE paedophiles… if I had any power I would make sure they never get out of prison to reoffend and harm another child and there probably are just as many female paedophiles as there are male! To me they are the scum of the Earth preying on innocent defenceless children for their own sexual gratification…. Recently a leader in the UN went down for paedophilia… they are everywhere, throughout the clergy as well…. The recent arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell is going to open a whole can of worms if she lives long enough to drop in the mega rich paedophiles around the world. I talked to a very gracious woman one day many years ago, we chatted, and she was lovely and had made something of her life. She confided in me she was repeatedly raped by her own father as a child!! The ultimate betrayal! Even though she felt powerless and like a dirty piece of muck she still made something of her life… I realise that everyone reacts to what happens to them differently, but I also realise that carrying it around just ruins your life. The clergy has shown what a vile lot many of them are….it’s very sad for the victims of the clergy and many in the clergy are being held accountable as it should be. I talked to a man, a war orphan years ago that was raped by a priest. Although he wanted revenge, he still made something of his life, married and had children…. Even though that was in the background of his thoughts while he got on with his life, he worked to do something about it legally. Everyone is different but it all comes back to something we all have in common…. Choices. I do not believe there is no help for them…. They also have to help themselves as well. Every single one of us faces challenges throughout our lifetimes…. One of my long-time friends that I met in hospital when I was a teen… ran out after a fire barefooted when a baby…. And like any 18 month old she stood on the spot screaming while her feet burnt off…. She had horrific injuries. She lost one foot and the other she only had two toes left and it was also in a pretty bad way. In her 20’s she had her leg amputated and got an artificial leg… until that time she got around on crutches, worked and drove a car specially fitted out for her. She let nothing stand in her way… she held down a good job, bought her own home that she still lives in 30 odd years later, and had a child of her own… as I said, we all have choices. In all the years I have known her through all her suffering and pain, never once did I hear her complain…. Btw I also know about that part of Sydney you spoke of…. My son went East to work and stayed not far from there… the first night there he went out to get something to eat and someone came up behind him and hit him over the head with a bottle and left him bleeding and unconscious on the side walk… they rifled his pockets got his room key and went up to his room and rifled through it looking for drugs (he had none)….and they kept the key! They never touched the bit of money that was on the table… so clearly it was drugs they were after. He lasted six months in that Godforsaken hole after being robbed and all sorts…. While there he befriended a man that use to be a heroin addict and he got himself off it, and they are still friends and keep in touch…. back to choices again…. And I will leave it at that. Im not accusing you of anything but what Im seeing is possibly a serious lack of empathy in the USA. I had a woman walk in the other week she was 25 years old and had 3 girls under 5 to feed. The hubby walked out and she had no trade to help pay the bills. I gave her a weeks worth of food but she became a prostitute a few weeks later. As long as this thread continue I will continue post the horrors I have seen.
