PURR OPINES,"So, HAL, I don't give a hoot about hot or slow years, whether UFO Casebook is in fashion or those times when a core of loyal/dedicated members put in an effort to keep the site (and other sites like our own) alive. To me it is about what's UNDERNEATH."
"Early previous century (and for all we know millennia before!) we have been visited by unknown players. ET astronauts who knows? Or forces infinitely more weird, beyond our wildest imagination? SUMTIN came down to Earth, and we noticed, took a few photos, looots of eyewitness reports, intriguing military and civilian pilot encounters (the latter is probably UFOlogy's best kept 'secret'). B J Booth worked his admin bud off to create a repository of knowledge which has been our main site. The UFO CASEBOOK body of sightings & encounters is what I came here for to begin with, while forum participation has become (to me) the beating heart keeping our community alive."DITTO!"Since some 50 years ago I have been privileged to read and online discuss, chat about, the most significant world event unfolding in my lifetime: Aliens (who/whatever they are) contacting Mankind. It also happens to be the biggest secret held in trust by America and several other governments, so we have to work around such security interests as well. There it is, nothing has changed."YEP...STILL ON A NEED TO KNOW BASIS!"I AM ON FIRE"... I'D SAY SO...VERY MUCH LIKE...

Shipwreck on Nile vindicates Greek historian’s account after 2500 years
In 450 BCE, Herodotus described a type of cargo boat historians didn't think existed.
Jennifer Ouellette 3/24/2019, 8:15 AM
The hull of so-called "Ship 17" a wreck discovered in the sunken port city of Thonis-Heracleion
Nearly 2500 years ago, the ancient Greek historian Herodotus described an unusual type of river boat he saw along the Nile while visiting Egypt. Many archaeologists doubted his account, because there wasn't any evidence it ever existed. But Herodotus is getting some posthumous revenge. The discovery of just such a ship has vindicated his account. The details appear in a new published monograph, Ship 17: a Baris from Thonis-Heracleion, by archaeologist and shipwreck specialist Alexander Belov.
Herodotus was an ancient Greek historian, often called the "father of history" because his nine-volume work, Histories, essentially founded the field. Around 450 BCE, he traveled to Egypt and wrote about seeing construction of a type of cargo boat called a baris. The passage is a fragment, just 23 lines long, and talks of shipbuilders cutting planks and arranging them like bricks using long internal ribs called tenons—a form of construction not known before. There was a mast made of acacia, sails of papyrus, a crescent-shaped hull, and a rudder for steering that passed through a hole in the keel. But archaeologists had never found such a boat as he described, with many concluding that the historian may have embellished his account.
Why wouldn't they believe the father of history? Well, even though Herodotus is required reading among classicists, he has a reputation for being a bit of a fabulist. Plutarch wrote an entire treatise entitled On the Malice of Herodotus, noting that one could fill several tomes with the "lies and fictions" of the Greek historian. The accounts of his travels through Egypt, Africa, and Asia Minor in particular have been dismissed as more fiction than fact. Granted, some of this might be due to errors in translation. For instance, he claimed to witness fox-sized "ants" in Persia, who spread gold dust as they dug their mounds. There is actually a Himalayan marmot that does this, and the Persian words for "mountain ant" and "marmot" are quite similar.
Then, in 2000, an expedition led by maritime archaeologist Franck Goddio discovered the sunken ruins of an ancient port city called Thonis-Heracleion, at the western mouth of the Nile in Egypt (the site of present-day Abu Qir Bay). In its heyday, it likely resembled the modern port city of Venice, including an extensive network of canals. A series of natural disasters essentially turned the hard clay soil of the city's central island to liquid, so quickly that the buildings collapsed into the water. Eventually the entire city was submerged, and forgotten.
In addition to statues, gold coins, and the ruins of a temple, Goddio's team excavated around 70 sunken ships dating between the eighth to the second century BCE, one of which, dubbed Ship 17, is remarkably similar to the ship Herodotus described. Belov was a member of Goddio's team, and published a paper in 2013 detailing his initial study of the wreck, focusing on the unique steering system: a rudder that passed through the hull of the boat, just like Herodotus described. Also matching the Greek historian's account: long internal ribs used to construct a crescent-shaped hull.
"It wasn't until we discovered this wreck that we realized Herodotus was right," Damian Robinson, director of Oxford University's Centre for Maritime Archaeology, told the Guardian. "Herodotus describes the boats as having long internal ribs. Nobody really knew what that meant… That structure’s never been seen archaeologically before. Then we discovered this form of construction on this particular boat and it absolutely is what Herodotus has been saying. Here we have a completely unique form of construction, which is not seen anywhere else.”

Fascinating and Mysterious Photographic Firsts
Brent Swancer March 23, 2019
Photographs are an amazing thing. We now take them for granted, but have you ever stopped to think about how incredible they truly are? They manage to freeze one moment in time forevermore, a peek at a split second in time that we can never get back, but which remains eternally etched upon that picture as if it never left. We have come a long way since the first attempts to capture images on film, and it is weird to think that less than 200 hundred years ago the thought of taking a picture of any kind was magic. How many scenes and images over human history have been lost to die with those who last saw them, before we had the capability of preserving them for all to see? Vast swaths of history have been visually lost to us, from a time before cameras and Instagram. Looking at old photographs can be a surreal experience, a step through time to another era, and here we will take a look at some major pioneering firsts in the world of pictures, a peek through the ages to another era.

James Comey seen wandering in woods the same as HRC after losing election .
He was found repeating over and over..so many questions..so many questions..just like the emissary from Oltissis! Is it possible He too has had a close encounter..with something..of some kind? The American Senator Lindsay Graham tweeted Be seeing you soon or in time after the recent mueller release exonerating Trump aka The Bad Orange Man....the almost very same words uttered by Indrid Cold ..The Moth Man!!.....I'm sorry People . But just too many coincidences to ignore..and felt compelled to bring it before this august membership. All Ufo Boffins need to keep a close watch on these men..We may be closer to Final Disclosure of the Third kind than we could ever imagine.

Was North Korea’s vital 'transformation computer' taken in raid on Madrid embassy?
by Julian Ryall 26 March 2019 • 4:26am
The group of men who briefly took control of the North Korean embassy in Madrid in February are believed to have made off with vital decryption computers that Pyongyang needs to communicate with its diplomatic missions and agents overseas, according to a former North Korean diplomat.
Thae Yong-ho, who was the deputy head of the North Korean embassy in London until he defected with his family in 2016, said in a post on his website that the “transformation computer” that was apparently taken “is considered more important than human lives”.
The loss of the equipment potentially compromises the unbreakable code that Pyongyang uses to relay its orders overseas, Mr Thae said, and would “critically harm” the regime.
No group has taken the credit for the attack on the North Korean mission in Madrid on February 22, although there have been suggestions that it was carried out by a shadowy organisation called the Cheollima Civil Defence, which has declared itself to be a government in exile. Also known as Free Jeoson, it claims to be planning the overthrow of the government of Kim Jong-un.
Reports in the Spanish media have also claimed that at least two of the individuals who took part in the raid had links to the CIA, although analysts say that is unlikely given the timing of the incident, just days before Donald Trump, the US president, met Kim in Hanoi.
According to Spanish authorities, at least 10 men carrying replica weapons entered the embassy and tied up staff before gathering up computers and employees’ mobile telephones.
“The world is reporting on the attack on the North Korean embassy in Madrid, but North Korea has been keeping quiet over the incident for a month," Mr Thae said in his blog. “I believe this is because [the attackers] stole the ‘transformation computer’, a core classified item in the embassy.
“In a North Korean embassy, the transformation computer is considered more important than human lives and it deciphers telegrams shared between Pyongyang and the embassy overseas”, he said.
North Korea uses a code that is based on pages and words from novels that only the sender and the recipient know, Mr Thae said, making it impossible for Western intelligence agencies to break.
If, however, the program that contains the key to the code can be provided to cryptoanalysts then it would be relatively straightforward to read North Korea’s messages, he said. And if its codes are broken, then North Korea must replace its entire method of communication, which will take time and interfere with its ability to interface with its diplomats.
Mr Thae’s suspicions are supported by the North Korean government summoning its three most important ambassadors - to Beijing, Moscow and the United Nations - to Pyongyang last week for discussions.

UFO art exhibit lands in downtown Stamford
Posted: Mar 26, 2019 2:51 AM
STAMFORD -
Downtown Stamford has been invaded by visitors from outer space as part of a new art exhibit.
Thirty giant fiberglass space ships have landed at the Artist's Studio in Stamford for its upcoming summer sculpture exhibit.
Artists are applying the final touches on 8-foot tall rockets and UFOs before they are placed around the streets and parks in the downtown area.
The 'out of this world-styled' ships will go on display beginning the first week in June and stick around until August before launching back into space.
The exhibit is organized by the Stamford Downtown Special Services District.

Meet the world’s biggest T. rex By Eleanor Imster in EARTH | March 26, 2019
Say hello to “Scotty.” The towering and battle-scarred Tyrannosaurus rex is the biggest yet discovered and the largest terrestrial predator known to science.
A new exhibit featuring the skeleton of Scotty is set to open at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in May 2019. Photo via Amanda Kelley.
Paleontologists have reported that a Tyrannosaurus rex unearthed in Canada – nicknamed “Scotty” – is the world’s largest so far, at 43 feet (13 meters) long.
Scotty, nicknamed for a celebratory bottle of scotch the night it was discovered, has leg bones suggesting a living weight of more than 19,400 pounds (8,800 kg), making it bigger than any carnivorous dinosaur yet discovered.
Tyrannosaurus rex (rex meaning king in Latin), or T. rex, lived throughout what’s now western North America. Scotty, the researchers say, lived in prehistoric Saskatchewan, Canada, 66 million years ago. University of Alberta researcher Scott Persons is the lead author of the study, published March 21, 2019, in The Anatomical Record. Persons said in a statement:
"This is the rex of rexes. There is considerable size variability among Tyrannosaurus. Some individuals were lankier than others and some were more robust. Scotty exemplifies the robust. Take careful measurements of its legs, hips, and even shoulder, and Scotty comes out a bit heftier than other T. rex specimens."
The skeleton was first discovered in 1991. But the hard sandstone that encased the bones took more than a decade to remove. Scientists have only recently been able to study the skeleton fully-assembled and realize how unique a dinosaur Scotty is.
It is not just Scotty’s size and weight that set it apart. Persons said:
"Scotty is the oldest T. rex known. By which I mean, it would have had the most candles on its last birthday cake. You can get an idea of how old a dinosaur is by cutting into its bones and studying its growth patterns. Scotty is all old growth."
Scotty is estimated to have been in its early 30s when it died. Persons said:
"By Tyrannosaurus standards, it had an unusually long life. And it was a violent one. Riddled across the skeleton are pathologies – spots where scarred bone records large injuries."
Among Scotty’s injures are broken ribs, an infected jaw, and what may be a bite from another T. rex on its tail – battle scars from a long life. Persons said:
"I think there will always be bigger discoveries to be made. But as of right now, this particular Tyrannosaurus is the largest terrestrial predator known to science."
Bottom line: A Tyrannosaurus rex nicknamed Scotty – discovered in Canada – is the largest T. rex yet discovered.
