So, Bouyant, where do you think homo sapiens come from ?
(Please don't say Adam and Eve).

I think that, when trying to make sense of the darwinesque idea of evolution, it has to be beared in mind, that this is only a Try of an approximation of an explanation of what might be the cause of what we are seeing up to this day.
Maybe intelligent design, which has some charm about it, is right or wrong, as well as the classic darwinistic-biological-scholar views of evolution maybe equally right or wrong.
Ever thought about the possibility, that both "theories" might be wrong in equal terms? You are exercising Void-Kampf-Tests. Not enough is known yet, so pistol-duels, in order to determine what theory can live longer, is surely not a very wise kind of approach, i would like to mention...

I had not intended to come out like some kind of a Darwinian creationist. There is no such thing as a Darwinian creationist. I don't care what your strange beliefs are but speciation by means of natural selection is a fact. I meant Darwinian evolutionist--not creationist. My bad. This refers to someone who believes in and follows the principles of the theory of evolution as put forth by Charles Darwin. This includes the idea of natural selection and the survival of the fittest. Many scientists and biologists consider themselves to be Darwinian evolutionists.

Here's a link to the idea at hand: Theistic Evolution. purr

I agree there's still much wondrous mystery there, LJ. To be blunt, we do not have a scientifically viable Creation Model on offer right now. I realize this is a big ask aimed at Christians... Evolutionary Theory has its own little problems (without wishing to broadcast this to the world) in that findings on the vital mechanism of Natural Selection fall short of prediction. Simply put: we still don't see functional gains emerging from genetic mutations. Without this we do not have direct proof how species 1 can evolve to species 2. (There's plenty of mutations, yet its primary role is in causing gene copying errors leading to death.) Wouldn't some intervention now and then, a tweak here and there by (unnamed) parties, at key points during the evolutionary process be a convenient solution to all the headache? purr

Just re-reading 'Darwin's Radio' by Greg Bear.
A good read.
As for evolution. It is really genetic mutation under a different name. As Purr says' a little tweak'. If the little tweaks stick they become part of the future generations. And the tweak can be caused by such things as radiation. even natural background.
