There are good cops and bad cops. 99% of cops are professionals doing a difficult job. But the profession is judged only by the actions of the 1%. Coming from a law enforcement family (father, cousins, uncles) I've seen up close the toll the job takes on families & cops themselves. Which was the main reason I never followed in the family profession.
That said, anyone breaks into my home is gonna run into a Remington 870 12 ga Tactical. Alas, buckshot is in short supply these days, so I'm going to take mercy on them an only use a NitroTurkey rnd. 3" # 6 shot.
Then I'll call the police.

Alas, buckshot is in short supply these days, so I'm going to take mercy on them an only use a NitroTurkey rnd. 3" # 6 shot. Then I'll call the police. Hi Raf, as with any professional group there will be a variance of competence in the US police, and a small percentage we may confidently theorize to be downright unfit to perform their duties. I felt compelled to enter the Defend The Police topic because the edited versions of George Floyd's arrest and ensuing death along with media coverage worldwide (the Netherlands is still abuzz from that case generating ongoing protests and calls for reform) imho prematurely and deceptively denounced the officers involved as murderers, racists or at least complicit in police brutality. If you have the time/energy to read back some in the thread; I sofar revisited the Eric Garner case, Trayvon Martin (who was shot in self defense by George Zimmerman, a civilian), Rayshard Brooks and some other widely disseminated videos all supposedly proof of police brutality against blacks, bad 'racist' cops and 'systemic racism'. It is the 'bad cops' (to be exact: the video excerpts plus media spin) in all of the above cases that fueled the public outrage over racism within the police, and the political initiatives, especially Black Lives Matter, aiming at reforming US policing. (Topic title was a play on the ridiculous protest call to 'defund the police'.) In this thread I have offered facts, reasoning and legal findings to show that the vitriolic denunciation as 'racists' or 'murderers' of the police officers/defendants involved was in fact distorted or baseless, a more or less concerted effort to frame tragic events to fit a political agenda. Mind you, I'm in favor of African American emancipation and feel awe at the Civil Rights movement, Reverend King was to Blacks longing for freedom at last like Moses to the Jews, a wonderful guide who shared his dream of the American Promised Land. It's when carefully examining the available footage of these 'brutality' and 'racist murder' incidents that I got incredibly upset. These officers were thrown under the bus, DEALT WITH UNJUSTLY, and hardly anybody was paying attention or speaking out in their defense. Acts of injustice seem ill-suited as the basis for Police Reform, bettering society as a whole and improving the lives of the US black community.

Here in the eastern Netherlands we've just gone through a historic heatwave, causing some delay (with apologies) in my reading / posting at UFO Casebook. Actually every computer/smartphone in use by my fam was in danger of overheating along with the people trying to use'em ! Post on its way then.... gradually cooling purr

My guess - the cop thought Blake was going for a gun. This may or may not be true, but its what the cop thought (I'd guess). But regardless, had Blake complied with the cops, instead of ignoring and getting to the car door, this would not be a news item. So here we go again. It seems like an endless cycle. With all the prevailing BLM it seems that this translates into a disregard for the cops (cops perceive this). The cops probably feel threatened by this new found lack of respect for the law. Maybe the cop is to blame, and maybe situations like this require special training. At the same time had Blake simply conformed to the cop's request, none of this would have happened. "Jacob Blake reportedly paralyzed, shot 8 times in Wisconsin Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man who was shot in the back multiple times Sunday by police in Wisconsin, is reportedly paralyzed from the waist down. Blake's father, who told the Chicago Sun-Times on Tuesday that his son was paralyzed, also said his son was shot eight times. The shooting led to unrest in Wisconsin and around the country, and hundreds of protesters ignored the mobilization of the Wisconsin National Guard and an emergency curfew on Monday night to again protest at the Kenosha County Courthouse. A viral video of the shooting appears to show the officer grab Blake by the back of his shirt as he tried to get into a vehicle, then shoot him seven times at point-blank range. "It's a miracle he's still alive," said nationally known civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump, who is representing Blake." More Sunday's shooting has made Kenosha the latest flashpoint over policing tactics as violence spilled out into the streets. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, on Tuesday announced the National Guard presence would swell to 250 after Monday night's events. Businesses were looted and vandalized, and fires were set despite an 8 p.m. curfew. U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson and U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, both Republicans, called on the governor to do more to quell the unrest. Steil said he would request federal assistance if necessary. A Wisconsin state lawmaker said Evers, who is white, and Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, who is Black, encouraged violence with their comments after the shooting. “They did not call for peace. They did not encourage calm,” Republican state Sen. Howard Marklein said. “They did encourage people to jump to conclusions and take negative action.” More FYI Jacob Blake, the man shot by police in Kenosha, Wisc., has a history of assaulting police. He also has past charges for domestic abuse & a sex crime. There's a warrent for his arrest. BLM rioters are currently destroying the city to avenge the shooting. Explains why he wanted to flee -an arrest warrant in Mr Blake's name charging him with third-degree sexual assault, trespassing and disorderly conduct in connection with domestic abuse on July 6. Why was he bending over to get in a car? Normally one would be upright! On the face of it, agreed, Robosapien. This goes to what the officer opening fire at Jacob Blake can be expected to report/testify on his own 'state of mind' as he reacted to Blake's apparent movements and actions. In gun saturated America any suspect not complying with police, even appearing to reach into his car, thus potentially going for a firearm, is taking their life in their hands. It should be obvious, but clearly isn't seeing how the media handle it, that police responding in such a fluid fast moving situation is not dealing with race issues: these are the protocols with conditioned thresholds for escalating to deadly force meant to keep officers alive. It is do or die, meaning that if you're the one getting stopped by police comply, with all the calm and respect you can muster, with all instructions. As to the officers: they will apply their training as a situation becomes dangerous, and in America this means guns get drawn in the context of a overall pro-active policing style.

www.zerohedge.com/political/sandia-labs-goes-nuclear-employee-who-sparked-internal-revolt-over-critical-race-theoryOn Tuesday, Peterson made a YouTube video "pushing back back on the narrative of modern systemic racism and white privilege." The video quickly hit 10,000 views within the labs and dozens of Sandia employees contacted Peterson to express support. Within hours, Sandia executives dispatched a counterintelligence team to lock Peterson out of the network and scrub his communications from internal servers—which, via the Streisand Effect, made the video even more viral and sparked widespread unrest against Sandia executives. By the afternoon, executives were panicking about the brewing rebellion, placed Peterson on paid administrative leave, and established a "security review board" to "evaluate whether [his] actions have comprised or posed a threat to Sandia computing and security systems." Peterson—who took a stand at grave risk to his career—says he is speaking on behalf of all of Sandia employees who are "scared to speak out" because of the lab's repressive culture. "If I get fired because of this," Peterson says, "the fight does not end, it only intensifies." This is the first explicit rebellion against critical race theory in the federal government—and the coalition is growing. "We need to completely rip [critical race theory] out of Sandia root and stem," Peterson says. "It is cancer and we need to get it out of the labs right now." Sandia executives have made it clear: they want to force critical race theory, race-segregated trainings, and white male reeducation camps on their employees—and all dissent will be severely punished. Progressive employees will be rewarded; conservative employees will be purged. Keep this in mind: Sandia Labs is a federally-funded research agency and designs America's nuclear weapons. Senator @hawleymo and @secbrouillette have launched an inspector general investigation, but Sandia executives have only accelerated their purge against conservatives. Sandia executives face a decision-point: they can back down and Peterson's rebellion will notch an internal victory; or they can fire him and Peterson will become further evidence of Sandia's corrupt and repressive culture. In a sense, Peterson cannot lose. If you didn't watch the video, the most important facts presented which destroy the leftist anti-police narrative: In 2019: 7M white and 3M black arrests 25 Unarmed whites were killed by police 13 Unarmed blacks were killed by police (that's 0.0004%) police are 30 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer

Let me clear up..I am not a law and order...fan when it comes to confiscation of property w/o recourse ..which some states have profited enormously..or no knock warrants..whch has resulted in people getting killed in bed along with their pets..or arming police that routine arrests become major militarty swat ops..no siree..and we will have to address that when the dust settles from the anarchy in progress.... www.breitbart.com/law-and-order/2020/08/28/ninth-circuit-stays-injunction-that-allowed-portland-rioters-to-pose-as-press/he U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (Oama Judges) issued a stay Thursday against a lower court injunction that prevented federal law enforcement from arresting journalists during riots in Portland — which rioters abused by posing as “press.” A July order by Judge U.S. Judge Michael H. Simon — a Barack Obama appointee — prevented federal law enforcement from dispersing journalists and “legal observers” during protests. The U.S. Department of Justice appealed the injunction. Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli told the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month that rioters had abused the injunction by wearing signs saying “press” — and then launching violent attacks on federal officers. In a district court filing, the Department of Justice provided several explicit examples: For example, a protester carrying a shield that identified him as press was taken into custody for impeding federal officers who were attempting to control the crowd, and was found to be in possession of a gun. Another individual who self-identified as a reporter unlawfully entered federal property and, after refusing to leave, resisted arrest. A third individual wearing indicia of press membership and self-reporting as press, was arrested for failing to comply with lawful direction of a federal officer, and discovered to be carrying commercial grade fireworks, which, throughout the protests, have been used as a tactic to harass federal officers, and which are illegal in Oregon. On July 28, 2020, an officer observed an individual wearing a helmet bearing the word “PRESS” and using a power tool to attempt to breach the fence around the Courthouse.

Gus sees KKK Russians and Rightwingers in the forum and around every corner. As he said..nothing happened here at UCB for 8 years under Obama I could not agree more. In the meantime..the progressive leadership in the states aka DNC is certainly baiting for martial law. only the Orange Badman will not oblige them, but federalizing (deputizing)the local police now re empowers them after they were abandoned by their local officials. Its been circulating that only a false flag event can save Biden. The audacity of MSM propagandists predicting civil war if Trump elected..along with a littany of debunked smears..certainly points to that..
Now...back to my popcorn

At the risk of overstating the obvious, at the outset of posting Defend The Police I felt so strongly because it was as if America failed to defend its heroes in blue, then I continued hoping to stimulate the debate on the underlying facts of the so called police brutality and systemic racism supposedly shown in the videos. Progressing into pages I hoped against hope one or two courageous and wise leaders/influencers FROM THE US BLACK COMMUNITY would make themselves heard, speaking out against BLM's Orwellian narrative of 'all are equal yet some are more equal than others'. I'm still waiting and hoping.
But for now I have to conclude the one voice that has been consistently defending the police is that of President Trump.
Being Dutch I'm not voting, not even taking partisan sides in the US elections (I side with the American People and whomever they vote in as POTUS), but in all fairness I believe Trump is making the right(eous) move in this instant.

Rubber bullets instead lethal bullets for example. A uniform doesn’t give you the right to take people’s lives IMHO
