I think UFO articles are missing the mark by inferring that these UFOs could be two or three hundred years ahead of us in technology.
Well, the universe is about 14 billion years old.
I think UFOs are billions of years ahead of us in technology, not hundreds,or thousands of years ahead.
The E.T.s have the ability to change our laws of physics.

I was wondering how many billions of years ahead of us nyx thinks these ET chappies are ?
And is he assuming that their universe isn't the same one we are living in.
As a large part of the 14 billion years of our universes existence was taken up with the forming of the stars and the planets, and a lot of time was also spent waiting for the planets (at least ours) to become inhabitable, there does not seem to be all that much time left over to the ET to have advanced.
And, where did they do this advancing ?
I doubt that anything has the ability to change the laws of physics. But there is always the possibility, even the probability, that our knowledge of said laws is incomplete.

I doubt even the most advanced civilization knows the creator ( the basis of the first Star Trek movie in 1979 with Vger which turns out to be Voyager 6).
A theory that has pick up interest is our universe came through a black hole from another universe.
According to Hawking, a black hole event horizon or also called a singularity, the laws of physics do not exist.
Matter spewing through this black hole is pushing our universe into a faster and faster expansion.
With that said, my opinion is that we return to a pure form of spirit energy and our energy is returned to the main universal energy or God.
I know that there our many different religions that have all kinds of explanation.
Follow the beliefs in you brain and heart.
Who is to say which religion is right or wrong?

You do know that Hawking did say that he was possibly wrong. And that his reputation was badly damaged due to this admission.
It seems that Leonard Susskind was correct all along.

HAL,
I surrender, I do not understand string theory and quantum theories.
Is anything real in a quantum world?

Could there be an ET perspective that identifies and follows an individual human soul living and dying thousands of times throughout history, or as long as humans have been walking the Earth.
Hi Nyx, these are extremely difficult things to wrap my mind around. I think our ooooooooold universe makes it possible that some aliens got one hell of a headstart on us (modern Man now dating back a mere 350.000 yrs. Before Present, pending even older fossil finds yet to come), could be thousands, millions or billions (uh.. say a couple... HAL ?) and then we are talking about Others hailing from parts unknown who are not just technologically more advanced; guys will have wholly unthought of sciences to play with. Travel between different 'realities', like compartments of the multiverse, dimensions (including Time, as in moving back and forth along the arrow of time) and Alternate Realms (like pleasant, beautiful 'heavens' and terrifying horrific 'hells' as envisioned by human religions).
Strieber attributed to Grey aliens the ability to move spirit entities from one body to another.
Nice if they can travel, but what matters is what they do when they get here. Communicate, teach, make contact, help along our evolution as well as exploit Earth, its life and ourselves as resource. One faction might be wise and kind. Another group might be ruthless and hostile, resembling the demons from the Christian tradition. Nyx, maybe you are right and none of the intelligent species, like humans, in the Universe know God (in the sense that you and I know our friends, family and neighbors). Intelligence will make us wonder and imagine plenty though. But why don't we KNOW God? Does he/she like playing Hide and Seek, a game of universal mind development? Or is it because God does not exist? I imagine that highly advanced Extra-terrestrials (or -dimensionals) will have better answers than us to the problems of faith and religion. Whitley Strieber mentioned that Greys were able to move spirit entities from one body to another, opening to a Science that explains Death, Reincarnation, and by extending this to all human beings who ever lived or will live, the Sum of our Fate. Such perspective might allow an ET scientist to identify and follow an individual human soul living and dying thousands of times throughout history, or as long as Homo Sapiens has been walking the Earth. For all I know they monitor (nearly) all of us and keep detailed records, especially of folks they deem the most interesting, who perhaps make a difference, changing our species' direction for the better.
God sees and understands the Multiverse.
For some happy reason this universe offers smart, self aware people a chance to look at others with a God's Eye view. And if looking at the world like this, seeing and understanding everything, is a possibility for a lifeform, we cannot but wonder if we discovered a tiny bit of how God looks at us, our Universe and the Multiverse. I imagine the eyes of God to be kind and friendly eyes. purr

Thanks purr for your thoughtful answer.
What is the meaning of life?
I used to thInk life was about kids, making the wife happy, and paying all of the bills.
Happy wife, happy life!
But, why do we really exist?
Why are we alive on earth?
What are we apart of.
Where did the universe come from?
We will never know.
Our 4 billion old earth is a baby compared to the universe.
What happened in the universe the other 12 billion years?
I am sure millions of civilizations have come and gone.
If we are dealing with an extraterrestrial, this being is very old.

One could ask why mankind is the only species that has learned how to do those things.
plus breeding still appears to take up much of their time.
