Since I had not used any of my drones in a while, I thought I would just take my main drone to fly from the backyard. I was interested in just trying to see if the drone would respond correctly and basically fly okay. So, it was a test. In any case I made a short video clip which is not too good but might be interesting. The quick stop abuts my backyard and I wonder if somebody might’ve called the police about the flying drone. I didn’t notice this while flying but, in the video, you can see a cop car pull into the quick stop. Also, there was a white car that could probably see the drone as well. I don’t know why it was parked at the far end of the parking lot. The video zooms in on the car and then it drives away. As usual it may take a while to download. I use Windows media player to view most of these videos. www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/test.wmv

Nice smooth operation on that drone. And a nice landing too.

There are lots of pros and cons concerning drones. Similarly guns, texting while driving, alcohol, drug use, etc. However the following video might be interesting especially the authors comments, a mistake he will not make again. I’m familiar with this type of drone and the control system, a naza m v2. This is an excellent control system but before you use it, settings must be made using the computer. Not only that, but the transmitter, likewise needs to be set up. It was obvious to me that his control functions were not working properly especially when he put the drone into failsafe. This is an excellent drone function which brings the drone back to its home position. The home position is established through GPS by having the drone sit on the ground until it can establish a connection with at least seven GPS satellites. Flashing green lights on the drone indicate it has established a home setting. I have used this feature many times and the drone will come back to its home setting almost within inches. I can guess what happened. He sent the drone up before it could establish a home position. So it’s likely that it did establish a home position but, while it was in the clouds. So when he tried to bring it home by using failsafe it probably did go home but "home" was set up in the clouds. So there’s more to it, when flying the drone, not something you can casually take for granted. Not only must all the software and equipment be right but the pilot also needs adequate training. So before flying the drone there needs to be a lot of time spent in an open area away from residential areas to practice pilot skills and using the equipment such as reverting to failsafe. It seems to me that this individual was lacking in all of these areas. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfxdeRx2fLA

This video shows a test run of a small quad copter I have equipped with a camera. Recently I spent a lot of time revising the software and hardware on this model and wanted to check it out. The drone responses accurately to all the inputs. This drone does not have telemetry but I was able to visually monitor its flight through goggles. The infield landing is a complete goggle landing and takeoff since I could not actually see it. Towards the end of the video I wanted to test failsafe which signals a complete return to home. You can see that the drone immediately stops, gathers information about its home, turns around in the direction of home and eventually proceeds to land within inches of it selected home base. Time spent programming this drone was well worth it as the quad performed flawlessly. www.mrgodzilla.com/drone/qt.wmv

That could generate a lot of ufo reports. I guess it has a specific utility, but at the same time gives the yahoos ideas. Impressive though.

I played Mechwarrior back in the 80s – early 90s as I recall. I still have the install discs for the four Mech series but after several Windows upgrades, (I think Mech four still played in Windows XP?) but not in later upgrades. While playing this game I had a lan system at home and would play Mechwarrior with my daughter. I was on one computer and she was in another room with her computer. When we played, I would always pick the largest Mech. The big and heavy armored ones. She, on the other hand, would pick some of the little faster more agile Mechs. She would shoot my knees out, and I couldn’t even bend over in the big heavy-duty Mech and see her. So eventually I go down and she would win. But it was a lot of fun. I still have the soundtrack copied on my computer probably from version 2 or three. I’m really looking forward to Mech five.
